Ocean changes

Deforestation

In this weeks reading work, we are learning about deforestation. We read three information pieces about the different effects deforestation has, them being- Palm oils, Amazonian and gorillas.

Maths word problems week 6

For another one of our maths focuses, we had to figure out these word problems. as well as show our working out, all of the maths problems involved either- fractions, multiples, addition and more.

Reading response

For one of our topics this week we were given time to finish our reading response work. For one of our task, we were put into groups and were given a title, Real estate agent or burglar. The purpose of this task was to see how different the two titles thought. After we had finished we were assigned to make a fractured fairy tale, our topics could have been any child story/book, and all we had to do was write it down the way you would write it.

Literacy, week 10

We had done a writing sample a while back, and this week's literacy we had to focus on how our explanation was good or not good. In class, we had to pick (out of the chart) which one shows the best example of how you write, and then write about why you think that in the next box.

Basic fractions

For maths this week, we were focusing on basic fractions. I learned a lot about improper fractions and it gave me a more understanding of them. For one of the tasks we had to figure out the word problems and put them into improper fractions, which I thought was pretty hard at the start.

Building resilience

For one of this week's topics, we had to write about how our bubble would be like in quarantine, we had to write about what our resources were and how we would socialize or travel. The main idea was to give you an idea of how your personal bubble works.

Literacy, week 9

Hey! For this week of literacy, we have been focusing on paragraphs, we learned how to identify the structure, main idea, and different types of sentences in paragraphs. We also had to experiment with our sentence structures using mostly complex sentences, while also having to figure out how to make our closing statement so that it would summarise our writing.  Ruiha

Literacy, week 8

For this week's literacy, we have been learning on how to collect and research information about our topic, Our topics for this week was a series of which were all linked to the same idea- COVID-19.

Nga Tau

For week 8 this week we had to count from 1-100 in Maori, we had to write down some of the numbers in Maori. We learned about compound words put in between the numbers, such as- ma and te. We also learned a lot about how other countries wrote their numbers down and how they were able to count their possessions.

Geometry

For geometry week 7, our class was looking at different angles. We had to do a kwl chart for what we know, what we want to know, and what we learned. We learned about all kinds of different angles and it helped me get a better understanding of angles and measurement.

Literacy

Hey! For this week's task in literacy, we were focusing on paragraphs. We have also been learning how to write simple, compound, and complex sentences and how to use them in our writing. Our task for this week was to add simple and compound sentences in our paragraphs, we had to make examples of simple and compound sentences as well as making our writing more sophisticated with complex sentences. Inquiry task

For our inquiry task this week we had to make two posters, one about how to stay fit and healthy at home and one about gumboot Friday. I really enjoyed making the posters because there was both a lot of information on both the different posters.

Geometry, week 4

In geometry, we had been given the task to match 2D shapes and identify them. We also had to make another drawing about 2D shapes and put them into an image, for example- a pizza is just like a isocsele triangle.

Writing explanations

For writing week 4 we are focusing on explanation writing and in this slide, we have to see the difference in narratives and explanations, then we had to write what they had in common and what they had differently. We also had to make a list of what related to the topics that were given to us. Those were probably my favourite parts of this piece.

Flames of a pet
