Ocean changes

So, as a part of our reading for the past three weeks, we have been focusing on different types of worldwide matters. Such as- climate change, deforestation and the carbon cycle. 

 

Deforestation

In this weeks reading work, we are learning about deforestation. We read three information pieces about the different effects deforestation has, them being- Palm oils, Amazonian and gorillas.

Maths word problems week 6

For another one of our maths focuses, we had to figure out these word problems. as well as show our working out, all of the maths problems involved either- fractions, multiples, addition and more.

Fractions T3W6

It's been a while, for our Term 3 week 6 work, we were focusing on fractions. We were given many different word problems including fraction work. We had to show our thinking/working in the slides below.

Reading response

For one of our topics this week we were given time to finish our reading response work. For one of our task, we were put into groups and were given a title, Real estate agent or burglar. The purpose of this task was to see how different the two titles thought. After we had finished we were assigned to make a fractured fairy tale, our topics could have been any child story/book, and all we had to do was write it down the way you would write it.

Literacy, week 10

We had done a writing sample a while back, and this week's literacy we had to focus on how our explanation was good or not good. In class, we had to pick (out of the chart) which one shows the best example of how you write, and then write about why you think that in the next box.

Passion project

This week we were assigned to do a passion project if we were finished all our work, My project is about netball. personally I love netball, the adrenaline everything!

Basic fractions

For maths this week, we were focusing on basic fractions. I learned a lot about improper fractions and it gave me a more understanding of them. For one of the tasks we had to figure out the word problems and put them into improper fractions, which I thought was pretty hard at the start.

Building resilience

For one of this week's topics, we had to write about how our bubble would be like in quarantine, we had to write about what our resources were and how we would socialize or travel. The main idea was to give you an idea of how your personal bubble works.

Literacy, week 9

Hey! For this week of literacy, we have been focusing on paragraphs, we learned how to identify the structure, main idea, and different types of sentences in paragraphs. We also had to experiment with our sentence structures using mostly complex sentences, while also having to figure out how to make our closing statement so that it would summarise our writing.  Ruiha

Literacy, week 8

For this week's literacy, we have been learning on how to collect and research information about our topic, Our topics for this week was a series of which were all linked to the same idea- COVID-19.

Nga Tau

For week 8 this week we had to count from 1-100 in Maori, we had to write down some of the numbers in Maori. We learned about compound words put in between the numbers, such as- ma and te. We also learned a lot about how other countries wrote their numbers down and how they were able to count their possessions.

Designer bubble

Our last task for this week was to create our own bubble, we had to design a house/space that we can survive in through a lockdown. I did my house on my chrome at https://floorplanner.com/ I think I did pretty well!

Geometry

For geometry week 7, our class was looking at different angles. We had to do a kwl chart for what we know, what we want to know, and what we learned. We learned about all kinds of different angles and it helped me get a better understanding of angles and measurement.

Literacy

Hey! For this week's task in literacy, we were focusing on paragraphs. We have also been learning how to write simple, compound, and complex sentences and how to use them in our writing. Our task for this week was to add simple and compound sentences in our paragraphs, we had to make examples of simple and compound sentences as well as making our writing more sophisticated with complex sentences. Inquiry task

For our inquiry task this week we had to make two posters, one about how to stay fit and healthy at home and one about gumboot Friday. I really enjoyed making the posters because there was both a lot of information on both the different posters.

Geometry, week 4

In geometry, we had been given the task to match 2D shapes and identify them. We also had to make another drawing about 2D shapes and put them into an image, for example- a pizza is just like a isocsele triangle.

Writing explanations

For writing week 4 we are focusing on explanation writing and in this slide, we have to see the difference in narratives and explanations, then we had to write what they had in common and what they had differently. We also had to make a list of what related to the topics that were given to us. Those were probably my favourite parts of this piece.

Perseverance in exceptional kiwis

for this week's work, we have been assigned to explain why we would or wouldn't want to live in a tiny house. Then we had to design a fast vehicle.

Inquiry task

For another one of our task this week, we had to ask someone we look up to/our idol a piece of advice, I asked my dad and he said.

"If your going to do something, you might as well do it right. If you start something, you have to finish it and if you can't, ask me for help" 

Word problems

I haven't been posting for awhile, but this week in maths we were focusing on word problems. Tell me what you think and if there are any mistakes.

Geometry

This is some of our math for term 2, we are focusing on maps this weeks and positional vocabulary. It was tricky at first but I understood the questions really well, I think it was because of the fact that my brain cannot think properly- 

Narrative writing

After our break we got straight into school work, our class has a verity of different activities and this one is our narrative writing. We were focusing on more of TOPS where we find the orientation, problem and solution along with writing the events in between.

The seeing hawk

For reading this week we had to read a story about a koro and his kite, the seeing hawk. we had to find metaphors and smiles along with making a drawing and inserting it onto the slide.

measurement matters

This is our second measurement piece for week 8, it was really fun! We had answer a lot of height  and distance questions. Some were tricky, but then you get the hang of it.

Flames of a pet

Flames of a pet

Flammable but kind, curious to the mind. We torture them until there dead, but if there lucky we’ll cut off there heads. Feeding off our coal, hoping to get a taste of a sausage roll. Starving in the night, humans aren’t so bright.

Beating the odds

Our reading for week eight focuses on resilience and perseverance, having a can do attitude.

Our school has recently closed because of the issue, covid-19. For the next four weeks we will be in isolation, doing work like this-

My narrative animation

For the past two weeks, we have had a lot of fun making these animations. We based it on our rocky shore projects, mine was about a psychotic fish that get caught trying to kill her town. Enjoy!

Treaty of waitangi

for the past three weeks for Waitangi day, we have been doing some activities on our chrome books. We learned about hone heke, what Waitangi is and where it originated from. Tell me what you thought.

My research project

In class for a couple of weeks, we have been working on our rocky shore projects. We had to choose a sea creature from the rocky shore and research about it, while also answering the questions on the slide. my creature is mussels and whats they are.

Coronavirus

We all know about the new virus, the coronavirus. Infecting over 80,000 people. We have been focusing on hygiene and how to keep our selves healthy, we also did a quiz about the coronavirus. This is mine.

Poetry

Last week we were focusing on poetry and for poetry, I made two poems. A colour poem and a feeling poem, a feeling poem is a poem about a type of feeling and a colour poem is describing a colour. I Did navy and sadness.
