Since we have been focusing on explanations this term, for our end of year test. We have been writing about climate change and global warming. I di my topic on power plant pollution and the way it affects everything around it. I hope you enjoy it, tell me what you think.

Power Plant Pollution

Imagine a world with absolutely nothing on it, no nevermind scratch that,
there won’t be a world. One of the things that continue to make pollution is power
plants, the effects they have on the world are crazy! 

Power plants are known for making power for a country or city, it makes
electric power for a type of machine. Power plants also cause a lot of damage
to the greenhouse, the greenhouse is a layer that surrounds the earth, making it a
habitat for species all over. The greenhouse is technically a barrier protecting itself from
the sun and heating the globe.

Power plants pollute the air as well as other elements such as land and water.

Focusing on air pollution, the gases that power plants produce form in the air,
polluting it with toxins creating the greenhouse effect. Water pollution kills fish
and other marine animals that come in contact with the waste or poisons that the
power plant delivers. While the land dies vulnerably and slowly taking in the
vapours of power plants, causing animals to go homeless.

Helping reduce the amount of pollution we get from power plants, can involve,
turning to solar power in which it reduces the amount of power you take in.
Even using waves and tides to power the world can be useful, for it can power
the globe several times. Having windmills can be a helpful source for this subject,
we could even have free electrical power!

Power plants are polluting nearly the whole entire globe and eventually, there
isn’t going to be a globe that’s safe to live on left. Help stop power plant pollution,
not for the sake of the people, for the sake of the world.

Geometrical sketches

WALT: sketch a piece of writing, particularly one focusing on animals.

In our classroom we have been focusing on  making a piece of geometrical art, particularly focusing on animals/pets. I drew a weird wolf, kinda like a demonic act of kindness...I was focusing on the drawing itself, trying to make it small and cute but also demonic, like a toy that holds your biggest fears for you. Our art is mainly for our school agriculture day, every year we have a day that we concentrate on animals and fun activity's. First we drew on a separate piece of paper, and drew any type of animal (mainly pets). Next we cut it out and glued it onto a coloured paper, then we made our geometric shape onto an a blank piece. Finally we cut out our animal and glued it onto out geometric paper. What do you think?

Plastic should be banned!

This week we have been focusing on persuasive writing and had three topics to choose from
I wrote about why plastic should be banned. I thought it was full of heaps of information and facts. What do you think?

Plastic should be banned!
What if our world was entirely covered in plastic, we would technically be a wasteland for the galaxy. Plastic bags and plastic, in general, is toxic for our planet, including the life in it, Here are some reasons why I think plastic should be banned.

What is plastic?
Firstly talking about plastic, it is a type of substance that a manufactured material made from a wide range of organic polymers such as polyethylene, PVC, nylon, and more... the materials can be formed into shape, while soft, and then set into a firm or slightly stretchy form. Plastic plays a very big role in everyday life, and because of that, it is killing everything.

What does it do?
In addition, the way plastic affects the world and the living things in it can bring huge problems to humanity. Global warming is a case that events include rising sea levels caused by melted ice caps and warming of the ocean's covering. 100,000 marine animals die a year because of plastic and 1 million sea birds get killed by eating it.

History
Leo Hendrik Baekeland. Leo Hendrick Baekeland was the first to create plastic and was also the one who put this world in danger. born November 14 1863, died February 23, 1944, and created plastic in 1907 particularly durable plastic.

For these reasons, I think plastic should be banned and that humanity shouldn’t be punishing the world.

Why homework should be banned!

Room 4 has been working on persuasive writing and this topic is focusing on, why homework should be banned. This topic, for me, was particularly easy but the most challenging thing was finding the right information and factual pieces.

It is certain that in Room 4 most people are obviously, against homework. Imagine going to school, working six hours, then coming home and doing more! Why should we have homework when we have school?

In fact, most students are getting way too much work assignments leading to unhealthy stress levels, sleep deprivation and unhealthy problems. Harmful stress levels can affect your brain and body, your thoughts and feelings, and behaviour. Stress can also give you health problems, that include high blood pressure, heart disease, obesity, and diabetes. Sleep deprivation is a common sleep disorder that if you look into it can kill you. Sleep deprivation can cause fatigue, daytime sleepiness, clumsiness, and increased appetite.     

In addition, homework consumes time for students and can present Students with social problems which homework can also give student’s burdens for they cannot finish nor complete, leading to depression and anxiety. People can develop anxiety from just a simple test or assignment, anxiety affects us all differently, some more than others... depression is a case of sadness usually caused by a traumatic event in life or it can be caused by something as simple as stress.

Another important point is that the teacher has to mark loads and loads of homework, making the teacher even more grouchy than they or ready are. The teacher doesn’t want to mark all of the student's homework.

Sleep deprivation, time, stress, obesity, heart problems, increased appetite... all of these things can be made from too much work assignments. So without a doubt, I believe, because of these reasons that students shouldn't be participating in homework.

The boy in the striped pajamas

The boy in the striped pajamas. Bruno is a boy whose father is a commoner, working for the 'fury'.      9-year-old Bruno moved with his family, to Out-with for his fathers work. The adventurous boy came across a fence, and then he saw a spec and then that spec turned into a dot then that dot turned into a blob then that blob turned into a figure, which turned into a boy. The two boys became friends and every afternoon Bruno meets the little boy Shmuel at the fence. On day Bruno finds out he is moving back and is trying to break the news the Shmuel, but it seems he has bad news to... his father is missing, so Bruno agrees to go on one last adventure with Shmuel to help find his father. Not knowing what was on the other side of the fence, he quickly squirmed through the fence, looking to find Shmuel's father. But little did they know, it was shower time...they were put naked into a machine with loads of other people, gas surrounded the room and everyone in that room died.

Book was written by John Boyne

Even though this is a sad story, it is also my favorite the story has a great effect on people and is a classic German story about the 'fury'. have you read it?

Science!!! WALT: write about our science experience

Lately, we have been focusing on science. The science project's we have tried include lava lamps, catapults, and gliders.

With our catapults, we had to make one using popsicle sticks, rubber bands, bottle caps, hot glue, and a bunch of other things. For my catapult, I used rubber bands, popsicle sticks, and glue and we all used the same pom-poms. Hoping for the most accurate shot.

We were concentrating on a subject of which would be fair for testing. Fair testing, was a way to test fairly towards everybody in the classroom.

I think we did very well with our experiments and hope we do heaps more, what do you think we should do next..?

Healthy eating WALT: write an explanation on how to eat healthy

Healthy eating

I’m sure everybody has an idea about being healthy,

and I'm sure people want the definition of eating healthy or healthier. Here are some of the benefits and risks you will find amazing about eating healthy/healthier.

Health benefits and how it affects your body?

first, Eating a diet heavy in veggies and fruits can decrease the chance of heart condition, high blood pressure, heart attack or stroke. Your food choices each day affect your health and well being, being healthy and eating healthy can also mean you are healthy from being unwell or injured, scientist says that being healthy can also change your mental and physical state.

Risks that can occur by eating junk food.

Here are some of the risks, tooth decay, high blood pressure,

high cholesterol, heart disease, stroke, type-2 diabetes,

 Osteoporosis, and different cancers.

Some of these risks can kill or hurt people such as yourself,

people sometimes don’t understand the effect of these problems and are unhealthy.

Things you can try at home.

Food can sometimes be tempting and alluring,

so here are some foods you can eat to help you lose weight, be healthier or if you're on a diet. Whole eggs can be useful along with;

leafy greens, salmon, cruciferous vegetables, lean beef and chicken breast, boiled potatoes,

beans and legumes, soup, cottage cheese,

avocados, apple cider vinegar, nuts, whole grains,

chili pepper, fruit, coconut oil, chia seeds, and full-fat yogurt.

Healthy eating is very important to your human being and can

help your physical and mental state, being healthy is awesome for the well being of your body,

your body deserves to be clean and healthy so, eat healthily!

What are, creative commons?

WALT: learn the meaning of creative commons

Creative Commons is a site on the internet that allows people to copy a piece of work from another author with the consent of them, as well as rules they have to follow. For example if let's say Jake saw a photo of a kiwi as a profile picture and he wanted to use it in a project he’s doing, he would have to ask the person for their consent, but if the author had set rules like let's say Jake wasn’t allowed to change anything about the picture then he would have to follow that rule.

Creative Commons is very simple and can be understood very well I learned a lot of things about this and it was an interesting topic.
